Auntie Spills All - Q&A

Auntie Spills All - Q&A

Hey everyone!

I recently threw out an open invitation on my Instagram stories, asking for all your burning questions about Auntie's, our journey, me, etc. And WOW, did you deliver! I can't wait to spill the tea! So, grab your favorite cozy spot, because today, we're diving into the fun stuff- your questions, my answers, and the fun in between!

Q: How old were you when you first started Auntie's?

I started Aunties's in September of 2020 at the ripe age of 21! I was nannying at the time, but my nanny job ended in early 2021 and I took Auntie's full time!

Q: What would you say is the most challenging part of the business?

This is a good question! And honestly, all of it is hard. I started Auntie's from the ground up, by myself. I've taught myself everything. Sewing, finances, social media, content planning. etc. Sewing is probably the least stressful part for me, but the most time consuming. Making content is my fav! I'd say bookkeeping/tax stuff is the most challenging for me, because it's so stressful.

Q: Do you want kids someday?

Absolutely, 100%, YES!

Q: When you have your own kids, will you be making all their clothes yourself?

Definitely not all of them! But, I have already started thinking about how fun it will be to be able to make them whatever I want and make matching outfits and such! You best believe their birthday outfits will be top tier!!

Q: What do you do when you're not working on all things Auntie's?

Honestly? Hangout with my nieces and nephews! I'd say 90% of the time I'm either working or playing with kiddos! They're kinda cute though so I don't mind!

Q: Have you ever gone on a blind date?

Oooo, this is a bit of a touchy subject lol. Truth be told, I've never actually been on a date. Not a single one in 25 years (unless you count high school dances with a guy who turned out to be gay lol). I could talk about this particular subject for hours, but we will just keep it simple. My love life is non-existent.

Q: What is the most annoying thing to make?

Hmmm, anything with gathering. I hate gathering, and honestly am not the best at it. I've been learning new ways to gather hoping to find one I don't loathe. Gathering is essentially the "ruffle" part shown below.

Q: What's your favorite fabric to work with?

I don't think I have a favorite fabric to work with! I have specific textures of fabric I don't like and won't use anymore. To be honest, I don't know the names lol. I use mainly double brushed poly, rib kit, and french terry.

Q: What's something you feel like your customers could help you out with more?

This is an interesting question. I don't expect anything from my customers at all! I always love seeing pictures of your kiddos enjoying our outfits! And when people leave a review that helps others know they can trust Auntie's!

Q: Favorite hobby outside of being an Auntie & business owner?

I don't really have hobbies lol. I like to read when I have time! I also LOVE to plan events! My nieces and nephews baby showers, birthdays, etc. are my fav! I used to think I wanted to go into event planning.

Q: What's your biggest business goal for this year?

I'm keeping things simple this year! One goal of mine was to get a coverstitch machine (which I just bought!) and my other is to grow. Grow in all aspects of my business. I obviously would like to grow sales wise, but I also want to grow my social media following, email subscribers, etc. I want 2024 to be the year I really nail down all aspects of Auntie's.

Q: What is your favorite color?

Pink & black! I'm basic, lol.

Q: What was the first thing you ever made?

These bummies are the first clothing item I ever made! I didn't even have a serger (the machine that makes pretty seams) at this point. I was just starting to test out making clothes.

Q: What was the best thing you ever made?

Ooooo, this is a hard one! I don't think I can pick one specific item. I LOVE all the custom birthday outfits I've had the privilege of making! Each one has taught me something new about sewing!

Q: What is your favorite thing you ever made?

Again, I don't know if I can choose a favorite. I'm OBSESSED with our newest items! These newborn rompers are absolutely stunning! They make the best baby shower gift or coming home outfit!

Q: Do you have a favorite animal?

Highland cows!! Those things are so freaking cute!! Though I think I prefer to admire them from afar, lol. Farms are stinky.

Q: Did you go to college?

Yes! I got my associates in Education at Salt Lake Community College. I initially intended to go for social work, but switched to education with a focus on early childhood education!

Q: Coffee or energy drinks?

Energy drinks all the way! I'm not a huge coffee person. I do, however, find myself drinking it a lot lately. I recently discovered a cute little coffee shop near me that I love to go work at! So, of course, I get a coffee when I'm there!

Q: What kind of kid were you in high school? Emo? Popular? Sports?

Hahaha, definitely not popular. I wasn't an emo kid either, though I do have a sister who could take that title lol. And sports were not my thing! I was the teachers pet student. I know, shameful lol. I was the kid who would remind the teacher to collect homework when they forgot 😂. We don't talk about those dark times lol.

Q: Where does the "love you 3000" in your emails come from?

I LOVE this question! I was hoping someone would catch onto that little snippet at the end of every email! "love you 3000" is a quote from my favorite superhero movies. I am obsessed with the Spiderman movies, or any movie Tom Holland is in to be honest! The phrase essentially just means I love you more than anything. You guys, my Auntie's family, are so incredibly important to me! You're helping me build my dream, each and every one of you, so it seems fitting!

Thank you all for your amazing questions and for joining me on this little sneak peek into my world! It's been such a blast answering your burning questions and sharing a bit more about myself and my business. Your support means the world to me, and I'm incredibly grateful for each and every one of you who's a part of the Auntie's family. Let's continue to create wonderful memories together as we move forward. Until next time, much love and endless appreciation - you're all the best! 🌟💕
